How many years of childcare experience do you currently have?I have been a professional childcarer since 2008.
How did you get involved in child care and why are you interested au pairing/ babysitting?I have a love for children and want to further my experience as I want to become a teacher. I was an Au Pair in America for 2 years and loved it.
What is the age of the youngest child you have cared for?From birth.
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies or other jobs?I enjoy dancing and horse riding.
What do you like most about childcare and being part of a childs life?In my experience I have grown to love children. Every child is different and I love getting to know them and being a part of their lives. I want to make a difference in their lives, which is also why I want to be a teacher.
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing with children?Doing physical activities outside. I believe children should play outside and connect with nature in order to learn about the world they live in. Arts and crafts are great for them as well.
Explain what you would do in case of an emergency?Depending on what has happened. Contact the parents, do what I can and take the child to the doctor.
What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while caring for a child? How did you handle it?Minor cuts and scrapes. Never anything life threatening.
What is your approach to discipline?Time out. No physical contact

How would you handle:

A two year old having a tantrum?Distract them from what has caused the tantrum. And positively redirect their attention somewhere else.
A 5 year old drawing on a wall?Explain to them that walls are not for drawing on, and give them their very own book to draw in. As well as making them help to clean the wall.
An 8 year old refusing to do homework?Give them a 5 minute break for a snack or drink. And let them know they can't leave the table until their homework is finished. So the quicker they finish the sooner they can play.
