Please tell us a bit more about the courses you are currently busy with, if any and also a bit more about where you see yourself in 5 years? I’m currently doing Business Science, which is an accounting degree, I’m enjoying it but its not really my passion. Hope fully finished my articles and looking a job.
How did you get involved in child care and why are you interested au pairing/ babysitting?Friends parents would ask me to babysitting  and then I went to Au pair in America for 3 months during the vacation period.   
What is the age of the youngest child you have cared for? 5 years old.
What activities are you involved in?Studying at UCT and sports.
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies or other jobs?Mountain biking, hiking and running.
What are your interests?Mountain biking, hiking and running.
What do you like most about childcare and being part of a childs life?I love building relationships with children and being a role-model. I do not enjoy changing baby's nappies.       
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing with children?Sports, drawing, outings and playing games.   
Explain what you would do in case of an emergency?I would contact the parents immediately and assist the child if she needs to go to the hospital etc. If necessary would call rescue services.                                   
What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while caring for a child? How did you handle it?Two little girls I looked after were fighting and calling each other names, etc. causing the one to be very emotionally upset. I mentored them and helped them make peace with each other.           
What is your approach to discipline?Discipline is necessary according to the parent's beliefs. As an Au-pair I would only discipline a child with the parent's permission.               

How would you handle:

A two year old having a tantrum?Ignore it, but make sure the child is safe. Or distract them with something fun.                                     
A 5 year old drawing on a wall?I would have to reprimand the child and explain why we shouldn’t be drawing on the wall. Ensure the child takes part in the cleaning and give the child paper to draw on instead.
An 8 year old refusing to do homework?I would sit down with the child and try to make it fun.   
Which age groups are you comfortable working with?I enjoy working with children older than 7 but would like to expand my experience with younger children
