I have 6 and a half years of child care experience.
How did you get involved in child care and why are you interested au pairing/ babysitting?I got involved in childcare at a time when I was looking for a job and I saw a calendar of nursery schools in the area, and thought I would give it a try since I loved children
What is the age of the youngest child you have cared for?Youngest was with babies. When I worked at the nursery school and it was lunch time I would go to baby room and help out
Which ages are you comfortable working with?
Newborn up to 14 years old.
What activities are you involved in?Activities I am involved in are cooking, baking, needle work, and anything creative.

What are your interests? My interests are traveling.
What do you like most about childcare and being part of a child's life? What I love most about childcare is when I can put a smile on their face, and to see them learn new things
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing with children?Activities I enjoy doing with children depend on the age group of the child, but with smaller kids I would do things like  colouring, beading, play dough; with older kids: baking, art work, puzzles (make own), making masks
Explain what you would do in case of an emergency? In an emergency, I would first call the parents and deal with the situation the best way possible
What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while caring for a child? How did you handle it?The most difficult situation I have encountered was when I went to the park with the boys to have a picnic. The boys were playing by the water and the one boy who was walking without shoes stood on a piece of glass. I had to carry him and then put pressure on his ankle with the blanket as that was all I had at the time. I called his father for the medical aid information and took the boy to the hospital
What is your approach to discipline?I think the best approach to discipline is to use time out and consequences.

How would you handle:

A two year old having a tantrum? If a two year old was throwing a tantrum I would just leave them and not pay attention to them because if you react to their tantrum it will make the tantrum worse
A 5 year old drawing on a wall?If a 5 year old was drawing on a wall I would send them to time out
An 8 year old refusing to do homework?Depending on why he refuses to do with his homework but I would probably call the parents. Otherwise would compromise with him and would also phone the parents. I give them a break and try and work on their homework in between. If its because they sick then leave a note in the school diary
Which age groups are you comfortable working with?I am more comfortable with ages 0 to 5 years
Do you still work for any of your previous clients? Which ones?No I don't work for any previous clients.

Can you cook? (give an example of a breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack)Yes I can cook.
BreakfastCereal / sandwich / fruit and fruit juice
LunchCheese sandwich / pizza / hot dogs / pasta
DinnerDepends on weather - if its cold would make something like curry/stew and rice. If its warm, I would make a meat with roast vegetables, garden salad; or lasagne
