How did you get involved in child care and why are you interested au pairing/ babysitting?I always had a passion for working with kids, so my friend's boss was looking for a baby sitter for a newborn as they needed someone they could trust. I got the job but only with the Kock family, I had to do the official course.
What is the age of the youngest child you have cared for?The youngest child I cared for was a new born.
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies or other jobs?My kids keep me very busy and I try to spend a lot of time with them. During my spare time I am a mother, I make sure my children also get a fair part of me and in the evenings I sometimes do food deliveries for extra income.

Explain what you would do in case of an emergency? In a home there are a lot of emergencies that could happen, never the less we try by all means to avoid having one. In an emergency you need to calm down, if it´s not a life threatening then assist the victim with 1st aid kit, if it professional help is needed, call for help and inform parents and in a case where we can drive to get help as soon as possible like a hospital we rush to the emergency centre.
What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while caring for a child? How did you handle it?When a child felt rejected by friends at school and needed more love and caring and just acknowledging that they are not better than him. Communicating, letting them know he is not much worried if they do not play with him showing him there are lot more who appreciates him as a friend. It was a temporary situation.
What is your approach to discipline?Kids will always have their moments, but we always have positive ways of discipline. Praise and reward for good behaviour and as a care giver always deal with situations calmly. Discipline helps a child understand what is good behaviour and what is unacceptable but must age appropriate. If I explain why things are wrong and give alternatives to bad behaviour.

A two year old having a tantrum?Remain firm. Stick to the rules. Sometimes they need some attention. Stop what you doing and listen to them and find out what is causing the tantrum.
