How did you get involved in child care and why are you interested au pairing/ babysitting?I got involved in aftercare through my brother and cousin as they got me an au pairing job

What activities are you involved in?I love drawing, going to movies, reading, swimming and playing with my dogs

What do you like most about childcare and being part of a childs life?I like most about being apart of a child's life is to just be able to say that you might have been able to do something to make their life better.
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing with children?Activities I enjoy doing with children is taking them to the movies, or swimming, as well as playing games inside and outside with them.
Explain what you would do in case of an emergency?Depends on what the emergency is, if its severe I would either take them myself or call am ambulance and immediately  phone the parents.
What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while caring for a child? How did you handle it?The most difficult situation I have encountered is a child falling off a jungle gym and breaking his arm and hearing him scream his lungs out. I dealt with it by putting him in a quiet corner and made sure his arm was supported and phones his parents from their.
What is your approach to discipline?I prefer to work with the parents and follow their guidelines.

How would you handle:

A two year old having a tantrum?If a 2 year old was throwing a tantrum I would put them in a corner to let them cool down for 2 minutes, then have a chat with them about the behaviour.
A 5 year old drawing on a wall?If a 5 year old was drawing on a wall I would remove the drawing material, ask them to help clean it and give them paper to draw on.
An 8 year old refusing to do homework?If an 8 year old refused to do homework I would make him/her sit until he has done his homework, otherwise he/she looses watching TV or activities that he/she might enjoy. I would check that the child understands the work and try to find out why they do not want to do the work.
Which age groups are you comfortable working with?I am most comfortable with caring for children from babies up to about 11 years.
Do you still work for any of your previous clients? Which ones?Yes, I still work at the aftercare at Parkview Junior School on a very occasional basis.

We are a very close family. We always do big family lunches especially with my mom's side of the family.
