What were your duties?I am a teacher for the 18monthsto 3 year class. We do activities in the day in respect to the Montessori syllabus. • Supervision of work time and free time in my classroom (15 children aged 18months to 3 years). • Supervision of play – Supervising of children ages 18months to 6 years during outside playtime for the whole school. • Preparation and presentation of theme – Preparation of themed lessons presented in the mornings before an hour long work cycle. • Preparation and presentation of lessons – Presenting lessons to children during the class work cycle and keeping record of their progress for the purpose of providing reports every term. • Preparation of Bible lessons – Preparation of lessons and activities from the Bible. As well as a Praise and Worship programme for the kids. We have a very good relationship and I am grateful for the opportunities that I had with the school.

How many years of childcare experience do you currently have?I have two and a half years experience through aupairing, babysitting and teaching. (Since 2011)
How did you get involved in child care and why are you interested au pairing/ babysitting?My cousin asked me to aupair for her children. I also started as an aftercare teacher and soon became a directress at Montessori.
What is the age of the youngest child you have cared for?Professionally from 18 months of age, and from newborn privately.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies or other jobs?I like to do arts and crafts, sowing and I have an interest in Punters.
What do you like most about childcare and being part of a childs life?Children are always happy and unpredictable which I enjoy a lot.
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing with children?I enjoy doing arts and crafts, music and playing ball sports.
Explain what you would do in case of an emergency?I would tend to the child immediately and take them to the hospital if necessary. I would contact the parents and inform them as soon as possible.
What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while caring for a child? How did you handle it?I had an autistic child at school and before he was diagnosed it was quite difficult to tend to him and help him as I did not understand his needs as well then.
What is your approach to discipline?I believe in time-outs and discipline that is age appropriate.

How would you handle:

A two year old having a tantrum?I will give the child a time-out and try and provide to their needs within reason.
A 5 year old drawing on a wall?I will also give the child time-out and rather hand him or her pencil and paper to draw on.
An 8 year old refusing to do homework?I will talk to the child and explain the consequences of his or her actions.
