Number of children, age and gender of the children when you started? They have 2 children, when I started the girl was 1 year old, and then they had a baby boy who I looked after from new born, he is now 1 year old.
What were your duties? It would depend on the time of the day, I would get there and feed them, play with them, bake cookies, sometimes we swim and I would put them to sleep. In the evenings I will cook dinner for them, bath them and put them to bed.I would basically consist of feeding , changing clothes , doing activities outside and inside, creative play and arts making their food .bath, giving medicine if needed, everything a mother would do. I really get along very well with this family.

Questions

How many years of childcare experience do you currently have?I have 21 years childcare experience (professional)
How did you get involved in child care and why are you interested au pairing/ babysitting?I have been babysitting since the age of 16 and just loved it! I am still doing it and still love it!
What is the age of the youngest child you have cared for?The youngest child I cared for was a newborn. I started in the hospital when the children were born and it was twins (Professionally)
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies or other jobs?I do babysitting in my spare time and love working in arts and crafts shops too.
What do you like most about childcare and being part of a child's life? The fact that not one child is the same and I like to treat each kid individually although they might be in a group
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing with children? It will depend on the parents. I love doing arts and crafts- sticking , painting , drawing play dough and playing make believe, I also like doing outdoor activities like taking them on outings etc. I also have a year pass to go to the Aquarium which is quite nice to do with children.
Explain what you would do in case of an emergency?I am very calm and react quickly depends on what happened I will phone the doctor or hospital and the parents
What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while caring for a child? How did you handle it?I think I had any scenario possible. When a kid cried and you had to keep his mind away from his parents although you knew they were close by. Thinking out games and trying to keep him occupied the whole time
What is your approach to discipline? It will depend on the parents, I do not believe in smacking. My no is my no. I normally don't have any problem with this, I will say no and maybe say something to older children like if you don't stop, there wont be time for a story and if they don't I will stick to it. I also believe in time-out and taking away privileges.

How would you handle:

A two year old having a tantrum?Depending on where I will actually leave him to it then when he or she calmed down I will go over and cuddle him/her, I will keep an eye on them the whole time.
A 5 year old drawing on a wall? After taking a photo( just for in case it was good,ha ha) I will give him/her a cloth to clean it themselves.
An 8 year old refusing to do homework?I will ask why don't you want to and then see if we can maybe approach it together and finish it quicker
Which age groups are you comfortable working with?I am comfortable with all ages, but love newborns!!!
Do you still work for any of your previous clients? Which ones?Yes! Stanford Payne, Molly Minitzer and Duan Thirio.
Do you have any children of your own? If so, how old are they?I have a 5 year old girl and a 6 month old boy. My 5 year old is in school and my parents look after the baby when needed. My husband is also very hands on.
Please tell us a bit more about how you would describe yourself?People who know me will always say oh you like children-cause I really do! Although I absolutely adore my children, I was always scared that my baby-sittings will stop if I have my own- it did not! I love nature and I love the plain things in life and appreciate it. The one thing I also like about myself is that even though I know kids I will always "listen "to their parents and not force my ideas onto them unless they ask me!
Can you cook? (give an example of a breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack)Yes
BreakfastCereal or scrambled eggs or French toast with fruit berries
LunchI like to do chicken breast which I crumble myself with rice or potato and fresh vegetables
DinnerA stew or stir-fry
SnackI love making apple crumble and custard
Is there any type of food you feel uncomfortable cooking? No
