How did you get involved in child care and why are you interested au pairing/ babysitting?The desire to work with children comes a long way with me.I have always gravitated towards children and it comes naturally to me.
What is the age of the youngest child you have cared for?My sister´s baby was born 2007 (May) I have helped her out a lot of times, even in times when they were sick. Mrs. C. Fisher. On a professional level the youngest was 2.
What activities are you involved in?I play an acoustic guitar in a band.
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies or other jobs?I jog in the afternoons. Love reading and playing guitar in my spare time also.
What are your interests?I am interested to lend out a helping hand where there is one needed.
What do you like most about childcare and being part of a child's life?The way they just enjoy every single day!
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing with children?Arts and crafts; all the other activities follow after this one...
Explain what you would do in case of an emergency?When I was Au-pairing in the Netherlands the 3 year old boy lost control of his bike and went into the river, I immediately jumped into the water and he was all right.
What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while caring for a child? How did you handle it?The oldest boys I worked with use to fight a lot. I told the parents that I am not always sure how to solve the fights between the boys, so they talked to them and from there on it was better.
What is your approach to discipline?The parents are the ones to set an example in their lives, so, I always hope they do, so that things will go smooth when I take care of the children for that time.

How would you handle:

A two year old having a tantrum?I will leave him to tantrum on the floor a while, then I will try to pick him/her up and talk to them trying to find out what is wrong.
A 5 year old drawing on a wall?Taking the child to a table where there is paper and explaining to them it is right to write on paper and not on walls, then I will ask them to help me clean up the drawing on the wall.
An 8 year old refusing to do homework?Trying to motivate them into doing the homework, also giving an award such as: something they like doing they can do and extra 15min. or so on.
Which age groups are you comfortable working with?Baby from 4months old up to 12 years old.
Do you still work for any of your previous clients? Which ones?Yes and No Babysitting clients I will babysit until I have found something permanent. Mrs. P. Chellan and I have become friends and we visit. Dr. J. Odendaal and I are friends and I visit him but not as often.
