What were your duties?Preschool teacher. Running of a classroom, preparing lessons ie art, music, indoor and outdoor play. Supervision of children in both indoor and outdoor activities. Music ring and morning rings. I assist from 7 - 13h00 everyday. 
Your comments on the experience with this positionI love to teach, I enjoyed working with and interacting with each and every child. I love working with the children. I had no issues at all.

Please tell us a bit more about the courses you are currently busy with, if any and also a bit more about where you see yourself in 5 years?  I am doing my Bed degree at the moment. I am currently starting my honours in physiology. I want to stay in this field as I am interested in working with children. I would also go into play therapy. 
How did you get involved in child care and why are you interested au pairing/ babysitting?I started when I was very young. I then registered myself with Unisa and chose to do this field. I have had lots of experience at pre schools. 
What is the age of the youngest child you have cared for?18 months is the youngest child I have cared for.
What activities are you involved in?I enjoy going for walks and have a big interest in animals. I love to read and going to the movies.
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies or other jobs?Same as above.
What do you like most about childcare and being part of a childs life?I enjoy interacting with them and teaching them new things. I enjoy watching them grow.
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing with children?I love arts and crafts, I have allot of fun getting all messy and stuff. Baking and reading stories and science experience.
Explain what you would do in case of an emergency?I would access the situation, to see if there is any other dangers around. I would call for help and call the emergency numbers and start CPR and then contact the parents.Depending on how major or minor it is.
What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while caring for a child? How did you handle it?I deal with allot of day to day problems with the younger children. Also with the tutoring I discover that the children dont always want to do their homework. I work on star charts and postive re reinforcement.
What is your approach to discipline?Positive  reinforcement. I do not believe in negative punishment. I would also discuss this with the family or even also use time out.

How would you handle:

A two year old having a tantrum?Children react differently with tantrums. Sit near the child and wait for the child to calm down. I would distract them with something fun or something that he likes also try and distract the negative behaviour. 
A 5 year old drawing on a wall?For a five year old drawing on a wall and try and teach him a little bit of responsibility. I would give him paper to draw on and then reward him for drawing on paper. 
An 8 year old refusing to do homework?I am patient when it comes to homework. I use star charts and positive reinforcement. I would see how they react to certain methods. 
Which age groups are you comfortable working with?I am comfortable working with ages from 3 - up.

Do you have any children of your own? If so, how old are they?No, I do not have any children of my own.
Please tell us a bit more about how you would describe yourself?I am responsible, dedicated because I love what I do. I try my best in every situation.
