Please tell us a bit more about the courses you are currently busy with, if any and also a bit more about where you see yourself in 5 years? I am busy with my second year of Early Childhood Development doing my Grade R, last year I did ages 0 months-5years. Next year will be my last year where I will be doing Special Needs . In 5 years time I hope to own my own Pre-school on a farm with different animals. Children ranging from the ages of 4-6 years old. Offering the best care and education to prepare the children for big school.
How did you get involved in child care and why are you interested au pairing/ babysitting?I started with babysitting in high school and I really enjoyed interacting with children . I then decided to go into Early Childhood Development. I want to go in to Babysitting in order to gain more experience with them.

What do you like most about childcare and being part of a child's life?I love being apart of their development! To see how a child learns and grows and matures. From not being able to holding a pencil properly to doing it right. I enjoy the fact that i even learn different things from children, the little things they do that makes you laugh and smile. the fact that at the end of the day they come up to you and give you a hug because you don't get anyone more honest then a child.
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing with children?I love doing creative activities getting messy and baking with children. I also love doing music lessons and reading stories to children.
Explain what you would do in case of an emergency?Depending on the situation see to the child and help him or her in what I learnt in First AID if the situation is very bad call Emergency Unit and contact parents.
What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while caring for a child? How did you handle it?I really have not encounter a very difficult situation yet.
What is your approach to discipline?I believe in a time out chair and the child being their according to their age 5 years-5min. Then going to them asking them why the think they had to sit their , have them apologise and give them a big hug and then go do something fun and constructive.

How would you handle:

A two year old having a tantrum?I will use a time out chair and ignore him till he relaxes and calms down then approach the situation by talking and asking him why he is upset. If he gets worse then holding him so he cant move from my arms and hushing him.
A 5 year old drawing on a wall?I will sit and explain to him and her that if they want to draw they can come to me for paper any time, but drawing on the wall is not nice.
An 8 year old refusing to do homework?Ill give him a choice we can either do homework finished then play and do anything he/she would enjoy to do or he /she will have to sit and not move from the seat .I will let them decide.
