How did you get involved in child care and why are you interested au pairing/ babysitting?I have been an Au Pair for ten years. My career began when I was requested to babysit for a family. I really enjoyed it which led me to start au pairing. I am interested in au pairing and babysitting as I love children.
What is the age of the youngest child you have cared for? The youngest child I have cared for is a newborn since I have my own son.
What activities are you involved in?Activities I enjoy doing are cycling, reading, painting, dancing, and going to the gym. I also enjoy watching rugby matches and golf.
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies or other jobs?In my spare time I spend time with my four year old little boy who keeps me on my feet.
What are your interests?My interests are sports and reading.
What do you like most about childcare and being part of a childs life?It has been a rewarding and challenging field to work in. I enjoy being around children as they bring me a lot of joy.
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing with children?Activities I enjoy doing with children are board games, out door games, colouring in, painting, hide and go seek, counting games, and eye spy.
Explain what you would do in case of an emergency?In an emergency I would contact the parents immediately, then contact paramedics

What is your approach to discipline?My approach to discipline is to be calm and collected with patience. I believe in time out or punishment such as no TV or games)

How would you handle:

A two year old having a tantrum?If a 2 year old was throwing a tantrum, I would remain calm and ignore the tantrum. I also try and distract the child.
A 5 year old drawing on a wall?If a 5 year old was drawing on a wall I would take the crayons away from the child, then explain to them why it is wrong to draw on a wall and then give them time out.
An 8 year old refusing to do homework?If an 8 year old was refusing to do their homework, I would encourage the child to finish so we can have fun.
Which age groups are you comfortable working with?I am comfortable working with children between the ages of 3-14
