How did you get involved in child care and why are you interested au pairing/ babysitting?I got involved in child care when I went abroad for a year. I am interested in au pairing/babysitting now because I love children.
What is the age of the youngest child you have cared for?The youngest child I have cared for is 3 years old.
What activities are you involved in?Activities I am involved in are netball and action Cricket.
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies or other jobs?In my spare time I love to cook, and play with my dogs. I also like to exercise and read when I get a chance.
What are your interests?My interests are cooking, sport, animals and nature.
What do you like most about childcare and being part of a childs life?What I like most about childcare is that you get to build a relationship with the child as well as the parents. I also like the fact that you help that child to grow and to learn.
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing with children?Activities I enjoy doing with children are painting, building puzzles, playing video games, reading, playing board games and many other educational games. I especially like doing creative activities with children.
Explain what you would do in case of an emergency?In case of an emergency I would first make sure the child is safe, then I would call the police and nearest available person that will be able to assist me with the emergency.
What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while caring for a child? How did you handle it?The most difficult situation I have ever encountered was when the boy I cared for in America broke his leg. I dealt with it by taking him to the nearest hospital and explain to the parent what happened.
What is your approach to discipline?My approach to discipline is very strict as I come from a very disciplined home, so I will always teach children discipline if I feel they lack or need it. I like it when children are polite and say please and thank you .

How would you handle:

A two year old having a tantrum?if a 2 year old was throwing a tantrum, I would talk calmly and nicely to the child and tell them that what they are doing is wrong. I will of course handle the child with patience .
A 5 year old drawing on a wall?If a 5 year old was drawing on a wall I would tell the child that they must stop doing that and that it is very wrong to do that. I will then ask the child why they did that, then I would get the child to help me clean it up.
An 8 year old refusing to do homework?If an 8 year old was refusing to do their homework, I would take away privileges until homework is done.
Which age groups are you comfortable working with?I am most comfortable working with children between the ages of 2-16 years old.
Do you still work for any of your previous clients? Which ones?Yes, I still work for Christelle Louw in the afternoons.
Do you have any children of your own? If so, how old are they?No I don't have any children of my own.
Please tell us a bit more about how you would describe yourself?I would describe myself as patient and caring. I love the outdoors and I have a big love for animals. I love to cook and bake and I am very neat .

My mother and brother will be moving to Ellisras soon. I have 1 brother who is currently in grade 12 this year.
