What are Sitters4U´s minimum requirements for au pair and childcare staff?

Our Team Requirements

Our team consists of experienced and caring ladies aged from 18 to 60. They are passionate people and make an outstanding, positive contribution to the lives of our clients families. They understand that to teach a child is to touch their lives forever. That the most precious gift that a child can receive is attention and love.

Our Minimum Requirements for Au pairs

  • Experience and references:Candidates must ALL have at least 1 year’s child care experience with contactable references. Although, most have 3 to 10 years of experience or more.
  • Vehicles: ALL of our candidates have their own vehicles and drivers licenses.
  • Education: We require ALL staff to have a minimum of matric, however many have a University or a childcare related  tertiary education. ALL candidates must be reference checked and background checked.
  • Police Clearance Certification: All candidates must provide a police clearance certificate that is not older than 3 months old at the time of listing with us, alternatively we perform this check at the time of listing. If you would like a fresh criminal clearance check performed prior to hiring one of our staff, an additional check can be done at a cost of R 500 per check.
  • First Aid: We require (and we were the first agency in South Africa to demand that au pair staff complete their first aid that ALL candidates either have completed a SETA approved first aid course or that they sign up for a course when joining our team.
  • Personality:We prefer working with candidates who are dedicated, organised, friendly, energetic, creative, patient, active and caring

Our Minimum requirements for Professional Nannies |  Night Nurses | Infant Care Specialists

Besides our basic requirements to be an au pair with Sitters4U, to work full day for our clients, candidates need to consider and meet the following criteria:

  • Have 3 or more years of experience working with infants and  toddlers.
  • If the candidate has completed an infant care, baby massage, early childhood development course it will be highly advantageous.
  • All candidates must have completed a SETA approved first aid course (minimum of level 1) and regularly update this. Not negotiable for caring for children under the age of 5 years old.
  • Candidates must have a passion for working with babies, a loving, patient and nurturing personality.

How does Sitters4U Find Staff?

In many cases candidates looking for work, find us. We receive hundreds of applications each month nationally through our website or direct contact streams. We also rely on referrals from other candidates. By law, we must advertise positions externally despite the fact that over 90% of all placements are made with candidates who are already listed to our team.  Don't be surprised when you see positions meeting your requirements posted all over the net. This is more for the purpose of attracting applications from potential staff for future clients though, as our application process usually takes 2 weeks to a month unless the candidate is hardworking and dedicated to getting an interview with us, their references are easily contactable  and manages to move through this process very quickly. Most jobs are placed from candidates currently available and already listed with Sitters4U prior to your making contact with us. Currently we host a database of over 2000 candidates who are listed and approved for listing with us across South Africa. We take the hard work of assessing applications for roles onto our shoulders, so that you don't have to. To get an idea of the average number of non compliant applications we receive, and our vigilance in processing of those applications, we have processed over 70 000 applications in the last 10 years and listed in that time around 12 000 with a standing database of 2000 + candidates on average.
