I need a Nurse
Nursing staff are able to offer the following forms of care: acute, primary and palliative:
Acute care is the necessary treatment of a disease for only a short period of time in which a patient is treated for a brief but severe episode of illness
Primary care involves the widest scope of health care for patients seeking to maintain optimal health, and patients with multiple chronic diseases. Common chronic illnesses include hypertension, diabetes mellitus, COPD, depression and back pain.
Palliative care is any form of medical care or treatment that concentrates on reducing the severity of disease symptoms, rather than striving to halt, delay, or reverse progression of the disease itself or provide a cure. The goal is to prevent and relieve suffering by providing symptom relief and pain management and to improve quality of life for people facing serious, complex illness by providing psychological and spiritual care and a support system to help the individual live as actively as possible, and a support system to sustain the individuals’s family.
Palliative care is applied to cancer, and other chronic and progressive conditions such as pulmonary disorders, renal disease, chronic heart failure, and progressive neurological conditions, and to children with serious illness.
A nurse follows the directions of a doctor, and typically provides anything from basic triage care to assistance in serious trauma care and surgery.
Basic nursing duties include feeding, bathing/ personal hygiene, administration and recording of medication, monitoring and recording of temperature and blood pressure, wound care and changing of dressings to more advanced nursing such as that involving the use of catheters, IV’s, injections, etc.
Specialized Nursing care includes post operative care and specialized care for a specific therapeutic condition, and specific equipment competence.
All our approved nurses must be registered with the South African Nursing council, and must have graduated from a SANC approved Training and Education Institution.
We are able to supply nursing staff on an independent contractor basis.
Our nurses will only take instructions from the doctor in charge. In addition we send a suitably qualified registered Sister to provide an assessment and nursing plan to us and to give direction to the temporary nurse, whom we can place in the interim whilst the doctors instructions and the Sisters’ assessment are analysed.
